What We Do For The Residents And Visitors?

There has been much talk, of late, about Public Safety. Local 1078 members are on the front lines of keeping the public safe. Our members staff the Ocean City Department Of Public Safety Communications Facility. The Public Safety Telecommunicators, they use to be called Dispatchers, man the 911 Emergency telephones. These highly trained men and women answer the calls and within seconds determine what and where the emergency is. In less than 1 minute they send the necessary services to the location of the emergency. The Telecommunicators give information to the callers on what to do until help arrives. While the operation is going on they monitor the radio to send additional resources if needed. They may be called upon to keep track of several emergencies at once. Our Telecommunicators provide these services for both Ocean City and Upper Township.
